Who We Are
Litpeer is a book-based social platform, operated by Talma, LLC, available on the web at litpeer.com and app.litpeer.com and in our mobile apps. This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies we use, why, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Websites and apps also use similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, to remember information between visits. In this policy we call all of these “cookies”.
Cookies We Use
1. Strictly necessary
These are needed for the Platform to work and to keep it secure. Because the Platform cannot work without them, they do not require your consent.
- Sign-in and session storage – keeps you signed in to app.litpeer.com and remembers your session between pages.
- Payments (Stripe) – our payment provider Stripe sets cookies to process payments securely and to prevent fraud.
- Notifications (Google Firebase) – if you allow browser notifications, Firebase stores a notification token on your device so we can tell you about new matches and messages.
- Video calls – our video-call provider may store technical information needed to connect and run a call.
2. Preferences
We store a few settings on your device, such as choices you made in the app, so you do not have to set them again.
3. Analytics and advertising
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies on litpeer.com or app.litpeer.com, and we do not use cookies to show you ads on other websites. If we start using them, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before setting them.
Emails
Emails we send through our email provider Brevo may contain a small image or tracked links that tell us whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. You can block this by turning off automatic image loading in your email app.
Your Choices
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, you may not be able to sign in or pay.
- You can turn off browser notifications at any time in your browser settings.
- We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.
How Long Cookies Last
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
- Sign-in information stays on your device until you sign out or clear your browser data.
- Cookies set by Stripe last up to one year, as described in Stripe’s own cookie policy.
